Youth & Sports Minister receives Commonwealth Secretary General

Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Bakary Y. Badjie yesterday Tuesday 8th December, 2020 received the Secretary General of Commonwealth, Her Excellency the Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland Q.C. in his office in Banjul.

The purpose of the visit was meant to discuss ways to support the participation of the ministry in the commonwealth Secretariat and assess the impact of the youth achievements as well as the challenges in national development.

In Welcoming the Commonwealth Secretary General, the Youth and Sports Minister commended her and the delegation for the visit to his ministry.

Honourable Badjie informed her that the Youth and Sports ministry is committed to work closely with the Commonwealth Secretariat in the areas of youth developments, skill developments, participation in the youth platforms including the youth summit and youth council amongst others.

He said the ministry is interested in the development of young people of the Gambia for the greater good of the National development plan for youth and sports.

For her part, Her Excellency the Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland Q.C. said her delegation is in Banjul to share with Gambians the opportunities created together for the country to tap and utilize.

She expressed Commonwealth’s readiness to work with the Government of the Gambia in ensuring a better future for the youth and collaborate in the areas of skill developments, job creations, and participation of the youths in youth platforms.
