The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MoTIE), in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC), is convening the National Stakeholder Validation Workshop today, Tuesday, 14 July 2026, at the Ocean Bay Hotel.
The meeting will present the revised Made in Gambia (MiG) Strategy and Action Plan 2027–2037 to national stakeholders for endorsement. Bringing together government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society organizations, the workshop marks the final stage in shaping a unified national strategy that reflects the realities of Gambian industries.
The MiG Strategy, first developed in 2021, seeks to position Gambian products and services as drivers of economic growth, employment creation, and national pride. The revised plan builds on the 2022–2026 framework, with technical support from ITC and the European Union’s Youth Empowerment Project II, and aligns with ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Priority areas include legal and regulatory reform, business environment support, market access expansion, and stronger advocacy and branding. Key sectors highlighted are agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, hospitality, and creative industries. The plan aims to create jobs, strengthen food security, reduce import dependency, and attract investment from both the diaspora and international partners.
Beyond its economic impact, the MiG Strategy is envisioned as a national movement to foster pride in Gambian-made goods and build a stronger identity for the country on the global stage. If successfully implemented, it could play a central role in The Gambia’s transformation agenda and support the country’s ambition of achieving middle-income status by 2050.
