Dawda Touray is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cleanworks Service, a new cleaning company that was established a month ago, , to offer numerous cleaning services to Gambians and non-Gambians residing in The Gambia.

The idea of creating such a company, as its top man explained, stemmed from one of his overseas trips when he realized that the Gambia needs cleansing companies that would offer different cleaning services to clients. The company trains cleaners, as the CEO reasoned that there are many ways one could clean homes, offices or industrial places.

“We want to bring in new ways of cleaning because Gambians usually look low upon this profession or people doing that,” Cleanworks Service boss asserted in an interview with Mansa Banko Online, at his office in Talinding Kunjang, Serekunda East of Kanifing Municipality.

He explained that, as a team, they have done theoretical aspect of cleaning services, and they are also doing frequent researches on cleaning as they aim to impress their clients but also offer professional services in this area in the Gambia.

CEO Touray outlined some of the cleaning services they offer such as commercial, residential, janitorial, after-party, apartments, and supermarket, pre-tenancy and after-tenancy services that the company renders to customers as well as home-keeping services.

He pointed out that the recruitment process is rigorous, in that they do background checks on applicants, obtain applicants’ national IDs [identity cards] and passport photo size, all meant to create credibility for the company and clients; and also for security reasons or easy tracing of staff in the event of their (staff) involvement in any dodgy businesses along the way.

“Starting this company wasn’t easy as friends and some colleagues never took me seriously in this endeavor,” he admitted, but was also quick to acknowledge that some kind-hearted Gambians offered him support when he explained himself to them. He said starting something is always hard, but with determination, things would work.

The cleaning service chief disclosed that among his company’s vision, in few years to come, “is to serve everyone” who might need his services both in the public and private sector, whilst creating more employment opportunities for Gambians youth.

Touray continued, “We market our company on social media as well as radio ads to reach out to our customers as we are very flexible.” He held that Gambians should dustbin the concept of making it only in the West and not in the country, maintaining that Gambian youth can realize their dreams in the Gambia.

However, he enjoined the financially stronger Gambians to support youngsters who are interested in creating changes, citing neighboring Senegal as an example where, he said, citizens help each other to develop.

CEO Touray hopes to work with local authorities such as Banjul City Council (BCC), Kanifing Municipality (KMC) and Brikama Area Council (BAC), and even beyond.

“We are looking forward to working with them,” the CEO stated.
