“This project is the result of significant partnerships developed over a 3 year period between Mr. John. Walker, the two Rotary Clubs, FIOH, former Headteachers, the School Management Committee and the Mother’s club. Rotary District 1130 and 3 other Rotary Clubs in Europe contributed funds” Said Joh Walker International Service Chair of The Rotary. Club of Redbridge.

Mrs Jainaba Sarr Country Director commended the community for its efforts in providing support to institutions in the locality. “The Mother’s clubs have proven to be key partners in the management of schools in The Gambia and as a result, development partners are now studying ways to replicate this unique Gambian feature within countries in the subregion”.

Mr. Abbas Cham, the Chairman of the School Management Committee, chaired the ceremony paying special tribute to the late headmaster of the school Mr. Suso and his then deputy Mr. Saidy who initiated the project. A representative of the Alkalo of Sukuta, Mrs Neneh Darboe Chairperson of the School’s Mother’s Club and Mr. Buba Cham Chairman of the Sukuta Village Development Committee also attended the ceremony.
