The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), under the leadership of Honorable Minister Professor Pierre Gomez, has officially handed over the site for the construction of 27 new classrooms at the University of Education, The Gambia (UEG).

The ceremony, attended by Permanent Secretary Ms. Isatou Auber, a delegation from MoHERST, and representatives of the MRC-Holland Foundation, marked the formal commencement of the university’s infrastructure development project.

MoHERST expressed deep appreciation to the MRC-Holland Foundation for sponsoring this initiative, which represents the first phase of UEG’s broader transformation agenda aimed at expanding and modernizing higher education facilities in the country.

Speaking at the event, Minister Gomez extended gratitude to Henrietta Sonko and the MRC-Holland Foundation for their unwavering support and continued contributions to the higher education sector.

The project forms part of national efforts to strengthen teaching and learning environments, improve access to quality tertiary education, and foster institutional growth in support of The Gambia’s development goals.
