The Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJaC) oriented sixteen trainees who will partake in a six month communication course. These trainees are recruited from Civil Society and Community -Based Organisations from across the country.
This course is part of the Empowering Civil Society Advocacy project (ECSA). The project seeks to build the capacity of CSO’s and CBO’s on the use of modern effective communicate tools to their audience.
At the orientation, Sang Mendy Managing Director MAJaC urged trainees to take the course seriously. He said the Academy focuses more on practical than theory, this he said helps trainees to apply the skills learned during and after their studies at MAJaC.
“Every sector needs communication. MAJaC has developed a curriculum on communication to meet the demands of CSOs/CBOs, you are lucky to be trained for free because after this course, we will launch a communication course were students will have to pay tuition fees in order to be enrolled at MAJaC”, he said.
The Director of Training, Demba Kandeh informed trainees about the modules the course offers. He said that trainees will learn multimedia production, graphic design, and mass communication among others. Kandeh said the Academy has been working hard with partners to ensure that a curriculum on communication is developed.
“We have been working hard with our partners in Denmark called the Gambia Media Support; this is because we want to make sure that we produce standard.”
