The Government of the Gambia recently donated two new buses to the Ministry of Health, for onward delivery to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), through the courtesy of the Turkish Government.
The two buses, according to the Health Minister, is purposely meant for transporting hospital workers for easy access to their various work places, on time, without any delays.
Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, the Minister of Health noted that the day marked another milestone for stakeholders in the health sector, especially those who have affiliation with EFSTH.
“These buses are donated by Adama Barrow, President of Republic of The Gambia to EFSTH, to alleviate the challenges encountered by our staff while coming to work”, Dr. Samateh declared.
He maintained that it’s important for health care personnel to report to work on time, and the donation would encourage that.
The Health Ministry chief told the ceremony that the Government hasn’t forgotten the staff of the hospital, and said that support was one of them {supports} .
Promising that they would continue supporting the hospital, Dr. Samateh told the hospital staffers: “We want to reassure you that this is the beginning and a lot more good things will come to EFSTH and the entire health sector in the country.”
Mr. Adama Sallah is the Board Chairman of EFSTH, and he told the audience that the two buses would significantly help in ensuring that their workers come to work on time.
He stressed “these two new buses will definitely ease the transportation problem for the workers”.
Dr. TurkishSallah joined his colleagues in thanking the Turkish Government for their support to the hospital. The Board chair disclosed that they were planning to purchase two new buses for their staff, and therefore noted, that the support is timely and it has eased the burden on them.
The Lord Mayoress of Banjul, Mrs. Rohey Malick Lowe, in her remarks, thanked the Turkish Government for providing the buses, and by extension, President Adama Barrow for the facilitation. She’s positive that the two buses would go a long way to help the staff of EFSTH.
The city head said that they need more buses as two are not enough, adding “we are still looking forward to have two more”. Mayoress Lowe, therefore, asked the Minster of Health to extend the message to President Adama Barrow that the hospital needs extra buses.
The hospital’s Spokesperson, Mr. Kebba Sanneh, described the support as timely, reasoning because it would enable their workers come to work on time. He saluted the Ministry and the Turkish Government for their gesture
