The Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) has taken a bold step toward transforming the nation’s procurement landscape by convening a high-level strategic meeting with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting, held in Banjul, brought together key stakeholders to chart a path toward stronger collaboration, improved efficiency, and greater transparency in public procurement systems. Discussions centered on priority areas such as capacity building, procurement reforms, and the integration of international best practices to ensure value for money in government spending.
GPPA’s Director General, Phoday Jaiteh, reaffirmed the Authority’s unwavering commitment to accountability and compliance, stressing that effective procurement is vital to advancing The Gambia’s national development priorities. “Partnerships with institutions like the African Development Bank are critical in driving reforms that promote good governance and sustainable growth,” he noted.
Representing the AfDB, Mr. Endo Mamoru praised GPPA’s ongoing efforts to modernize procurement systems and pledged continued support for initiatives that strengthen institutional capacity and enhance service delivery.
This engagement marks a significant milestone in reinforcing collaboration between GPPA and the AfDB. By aligning strategies and pooling expertise, the partnership is expected to accelerate reforms that will not only improve public sector performance but also contribute to The Gambia’s broader development agenda.
