Smart Agripreneurs’ Academy, in partnership with Baykart, successfully conducted the second day of Phase II of its ongoing agricultural training program at Pakaliba Upper and Senior Secondary School.
The session centered on practical, climate-smart farming techniques, equipping students with hands-on skills in preparing organic compost, producing banana peel fertilizer, and making animal dung tea manure. These eco-friendly soil fertility management practices aim to boost crop productivity while reducing reliance on chemical inputs.
Students actively engaged in the training, participating in the preparation processes, asking insightful questions, and showing strong enthusiasm for adopting sustainable agricultural methods. The highly interactive format allowed learners to transform locally available agricultural and household waste into valuable organic inputs, reinforcing the importance of resource efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Beyond technical knowledge, the training fostered collaboration and mutual learning. Students gained confidence in applying sustainable practices, teachers deepened their understanding of organic soil management, and facilitators benefited from the exchange of ideas and local experiences shared during discussions and demonstrations.
The energy, teamwork, and commitment displayed throughout the session highlighted the growing passion among young people for agriculture and agribusiness. Initiatives like this not only empower students with practical skills but also inspire the next generation of agripreneurs to contribute to food security and community development.
Smart Agripreneurs’ Academy and Baykart reaffirm their dedication to strengthening agricultural education and equipping youth with the tools needed to drive sustainable farming and innovation across The Gambia.
