Paradise Foundation Donates Various Equipment to  Gov’t, Others

Paradise Suites Hotel and Paradise Foundation recently gave over 1.2 million dalasi worth of Medical equipment and accessories to the Gambia Government and other beneficiaries.

Among the worthy beneficiaries of the donated medical items and Accessories, which included Respiratory Masks, Oxygen Cylinders and Mobility Equipment and nutritional supplements, are: Ministry of Women’s Affairs; the Gambia Red Cross Society; the Marley Foundation; EFSTH; the Elderly Homes and Physically challenged individuals; and the GAF Military Hospitals.

Speaking at a presentation ceremony held at Paradise Suites Hotel, Master of the Ceremony (MC), Ms. Binta Jobe said the mission of Paradise Foundation is to champion and enhance quality of life of individuals in the Gambia through access to employment, healthcare and social protection.

The Paradise Foundation, she indicated, is committed to complement the efforts of the government of the Gambia in line with the president’s call for solidarity and keeping the spirit of One Gambia and One people. Jobe informed that as a contribution to the national COVID-19 response, on 20th March 2020, the foundation engaged the Gambia’s Ministry of Health to provide additional support to its COVID-19 response approach. She noted that Paradise Foundation team is supporting in the helpline and social media outlets of the MoH.

Madam Jobe disclosed that this consignment of medical equipment was originally meant to be distributed to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital and some of the items for mobility challenged individuals, but they decided to join the fight against the global pandemic COVID-19 to complement the efforts of the government.

Citing some of the activities the foundation had been engaged in over the years, Jobe noted that they have continuously supported community development, humanitarian response especially during the impasse, and first National Dialogue on Education, among other things. And she added that, they would continue to promote the health, education and well-being of the people of the Gambia saying they are excited to work towards the socio-economic development of this country, Jobe added that, they (Paradise Foundation) are confident that the donated equipment would be used appropriately, and the health services and social protection of the general public would be improved.

The Minister of Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Mrs. Fatou Kinteh, who received the donated equipment on behalf of the Government, believes the items would go a long way in helping people at the hospital.

She, on behalf of the government, thanked Paradise Foundation and the management of Paradise Suites Hotel, for taking such a bold step in helping government in these trying times.
