The National Unity Party (NUP) has disclosed its candidates for the upcoming National Assembly Elections. “On behalf of the National Executive Committee of the National Unity Party (NUP), I wish to inform the general public that the National Unity Party will be actively participating in the forthcoming April 2022 National Assembly elections”, Mr. Saidina Abubacarr Jarjou, Deputy Spokesperson of the NUP, said in a press statement.
He stated that after going through a rigorous process of scrutinizing applicants for the country’s legislature, “we are pleased to announce the approval of the following names to contest under the NUP ticket in the Parliamentary Elections: Prof. Yerro Mballow for Upper Fulladu West Constituency, Hon. Ousman D. Jallow for Niamina West Constituency, Hon. Cheena Bah for Jokadu Constituency, [and] Hon. Modou Njie for Old Yundum Constituency”.
While reaffirming their commitment to “effecting a representative Parliament” in the interest of national development, Deputy Spokesperson Jarjou continued, “we call on all Gambians to endorse these candidates as we lead in the path to unity towards a common good”.
It could be recalled that the new political party, NUP, has contested the December 4, 2021 presidential election with a former Boss of Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Mr. Abdoulie Ebrima Jammeh as its Standard-bearer.
