The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter has extended its heartfelt condolences to the entire Gambian Media Fraternity, for the demise of Ms.Sise Sawaneh, an award-winning Journalist at the National Broadcaster, Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS).

A press statement from the organisation states that, “The secretariat also wishes to join her family in mourning her untimely death.”

The late Sise Sawaneh, as pointed out by the GYIN Gambia Chapter, was one of the founding members of GYIN Gambia. She died in a car crash that occurred on Wednesday, 9th October, 2019 while on an official assignment to attend a football match in Jarra Soma, in the Lower River Region of The Gambia.

The accident, which took place along the Jarra Soma highway of the same region, also claimed the lives of two others- Papa Touray and Saikou Touray.

GYIN described late Sawaneh as a “dedicated and determined youth leader in the country, whose “exemplary stance in the course of young people and human rights advocacy has been greatly recognized”.

Further describing the young journalist’s tragic death as a great loss to the nation, the GYIN Gambia ‘Chapter family’ prayed for the Almighty Allah grant her Jannatul Firdawsi, adding: “May her gentle soul rest in eternal bliss. Adieu!!!”
