Preparations are ongoing at the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter to commemorate this year’s World Entrepreneurs’ Day (WED) on 21st August, 2019.

World Entrepreneurs’ Day is meant to create awareness for entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership throughout the world.

In The Gambia, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to network, share experiences and possible ways to develop their businesses.

“World Entrepreneurs’ Day is the perfect day to celebrate the people who started a business alone such as founders, managers, producers, contractors, industrialists, innovators, administrators, designers and producers,” says GYINer, Ahmad M. Ceesay, the lead coordinator of the celebration, while drafting the concept note on Friday, 12th July, 2019 at the GYIN Gambia Secretariat in Churchill’s Town.

Ceesay explained that it will expose businesses to potential investors and partners, encourage start-ups to legally register their businesses and pay tax – thus contributing their quota to the economic growth of the Gambia.

He said that the networking platform will bring together 100 entrepreneurs’ across the country, including start-ups. “There will be a profiling of 50 young entrepreneurs and the 10 most successful entrepreneurs in the Gambia.”

Ceesay said that WED will be marked by a march pass to create awareness, and through a night of inspiration and aspirations.

“The Commemoration will also feature short classes on entrepreneurship and introduction to business management for entrepreneurs’ who have not attended any form of business training,” he said.

He said that bringing entrepreneurs’ and start-ups together will expose them to market linkages.
