Basse Area Council (BsAC) has recently validated its 2022 to 2023 Strategic Action Work plan which seeks to address water shortage, through the provision of full supply of water in the entire region of Upper River Region (URR), most especially, in its Fulladu East District.

It also seeks to ensure effective marketing, by mapping out all the strategic regional feeder roads in the region, and to advocate for inclusion in ensuring medium term national development, and donor/government financing instruments for the construction of the said regional feeder roads, among other development endeavours.

Speaking at the event in Council’s campus, the Governor of URR, Mr. Samba Bah, congratulated the officials of BsAC and its partners for developing a life changing document which, if fully implemented, would enhance the living conditions of the people in the region.

The head of the region went on to urge the Council to ensure that the document is an all-inclusive one, which the entire region could take ownership of, and also ensure the smooth and successful execution of the plans catapulted in the strategic work plan.

Mr. Foday Danjo, Chairman of the Basse Area Council, told the convergence that during the review process of the document, they had fruitful discussions to ensure a befitting document that would greatly help address the challenges confronting the region.

“I challenge the entire staff and management to keep up the spirit of the team work that the council is known for. It is through that team work we have come this far in developing a tangible work plan for the council”, he said.

Danjo further tasked council officials to keep up the good work they have been doing since they assumed office, adding that their recent success at the National Assembly (during their interface with the local government committee for the presentation of their reports), wouldn’t have been possible without their team work.

He, in the same vein, encouraged his staff to put all hands on deck in ensuring the successful implementation of the work plan, reminding them that it’s in the best interest of both the citizens (of this country) and residents of URR.

“The work Plan has a short life span but it will greatly assist us in addressing the issues that are set out in the document for the betterment of the region”,  the Area Council Chairman noted.

Mr. David Gomez from the Ministry of Lands and Regional Government, in his remarks, saluted BsAC and partners for the foresight, noting  the exercise (validation) would accord them the opportunity to once again add their inputs in the document, for the progress of both the council and the region.

The Director of Finance at Basse Area Council, Mr. Lamin Suso, informed his audience that the document had been the culmination of a consultative process with their partners who, some time ago, came to the council.

The interface with their development partners on the document, he indicated, was to review it, during which, the council officials made their suggestions and recommendations on the document.

“Today’s convergence is for us validate the draft of the said document. Once validated, the strategic action work plan will guide and direct the execution of the activities of the council”, said Finance Director Suso.
