A Belgian organization named ‘Belgium Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), has donated educational, health and agricultural items to their sponsored students in the Gambia.

The beneficiary students in Regions 1 and 2 are attending the following schools: Jambanjelly-64 students; Bakoteh Upper Basic-24 students; Bakoteh Proper-25; Bakoteh Senior Seconday-19; Bakoteh Annex-23 students; and Nyodema Nursery-35 students. Also, the kind gesture was extended to 68 of their sponsored students who had attended Nyodema Nursery School but now moved to Upper Basic and Senior Secondary Schools, and Skills Centers.

The Chairman of BFoTG, Mr. Patrick De Vos, has informed the beneficiary students in the concerned schools that their friends in Belgium didn’t forget about them last year, but due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, they were unable to send their packages to them.

He added: “These are your friends who have the interest of you people at heart, as future leaders of The Gambia. They want to better your lives in order to become responsible leaders in future, who can decide what is good for you and what’s not.”

Chairman De Vos reassured the students and their school administrations that BFoG would continue to sponsor them and he used the moment to enjoin them (students) to take their education seriously.

The Head teachers who spoke on behalf of their respective schools, expressed their appreciations of the help Belgium Friends of The Gambia had been offering to their students and schools for the past years. They thanked the sponsors, through Patrick and his wife, Christa, for having concern for those future leaders, and promised to take good care of donated items.
