By: Bakary Ceesay, in Germany

Officials of Invest Gambia–a Gambian-owned company–and Turkey-based Mashaallah [MASAALLAH] Gambia, recently held a meeting in Turkey where they talked about partnership between the two business entities, during a two-day business trip made by Invest Gambia’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Invest Gambia, which focuses on business in Gambia, also scouts for potential investors  to convince them to come and do business in the Gambia, by showing them some of the business opportunities available in the smiling coast of  The Gambia. It also mentors young entrepreneurs to be more viable in business.

While the Turkey-based ‘Mashaallah Cargo Gambia’ focuses on shipping goods to  Gambia, it also encourages investors to explore the Gambian markets for potential investment opportunities in all areas.

The Cargo company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Adama Njie, pointed out that they do both air-freight shipping and sea freight containers, helping business people across Africa.

CEO Christopher Mendy, alias Gambian Chris Black, of Invest Gambia, reported that his Turkey trip was  purposely for the business investment they did for Malilang Collection–dealing in ladies’ accessories.

The Germany-based Gambian entrepreneur indicated that his meeting with Mashaallah Cargo Gambia in Turkey, during my business trip, “makes my exporting easy as they’re reliable young Gambians doing extremely well in exporting goods to Gambia”.

Mendy vouched that Mashaallah Cargo Gambia in Turkey is reliable and efficient, and he therefore, encourages all investors in Turkey to work with them in sending their goods to Gambia. He added that Invest Gambia currently employs 15 Gambians across the country and is determined to expand.

“The trip to Turkey was to also invest in the Malilang Collection which focuses on  ladies accessories like dress, shoes, bags and jewelleries and gentlemen’s clothes. We want to set an example so that many investors can follow us to invest in Gambia, in different areas,” said CEO Mendy.

Mr. Momodou Saidykhan, a UK-based Gambian is the managing partner of Invest Gambia.  He disclosed that they want to contribute their quota in the socio-economic development of this country by creating employment opportunities for the young people. And, hopefully, they are eying for business establishments in other African countries, he pointed out.
