Annual garden clearing exercise is enshrined in every school’s extracurricular activities. The exercise aims at clearing the school garden for the forthcoming gardening session.
As a fulfillment of this drive, Ndungu Kebbeh Lower Basic School (LBS) in the North Bank Region (NBR), on Friday, 15 November 2019, embarked on their annual clearing exercise at the school garden yard.
Conspicuously, students of the school turned out in their large numbers to cherish the exercise. Among them was Kebba Jallow, a Grade six (6) student who was so much appreciative of the event. The young Jallow saluted his fellow students for the massive turn out.
Awa F. Njie, a member of the Press Club in the said school also thanked the students for their steadfastness. She reiterated the purpose of school garden which is to serve as a supportive mechanism for the World Food Programme (WFP) school feeding programme. Njie, however, appealed to her fellow students to prioritise the garden.
The Garden Master, Mr. Manneh, in an exclusive interview with this reporter, intimated that gardening is part and parcel of the school’s extracurricular activities as far as the policies are concerned.
He used the opportunity to thank the students for the massive turnout, while also calling on the parents to facilitate their gardening activities by allowing the students to come to the garden on time.
Manneh’s gratitude goes to the school authorities for availing him such an opportunity in the school. Thus, he called on his comrades (teachers) to live up to the challenges at hand, for the best interests of the students, school and the nation, at large.
