GYIN Gambia and Doorways to Train 30 Youth Entrepreneurs on Personal Initiative (PI)

Bijilo, The Gambia – February 13, 2025: The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN Gambia Chapter) on 13th February 2025 signed another six-month contract agreement with Doorways gGmbH to train 30 youth entrepreneurs in the West Coast Region (WCR).

The Personal Initiative (PI) Training is an action-oriented and evidence-based training program that focuses on creating an entrepreneurial mindset and has proven to increase entrepreneurial success. Doorways gGmbH is a certified provider for PI Training.

The project “Personal Initiative (PI) for Youth in the Gambia – Pilot” is funded and supported by Doorways gGmbH and will be implemented by GYIN Gambia Chapter. The goal of the project is to prepare and deliver training to 30 youth members in the West Coast of The Gambia.

The concept of PI means being self-starting, future-thinking, and overcoming barriers. It is a psychological construct which can be developed by changing people’s mindset.

As part of this project, GYIN Gambia will develop training preparations which will include virtual field visit by meeting with potential beneficiaries, adapting the 10 existing training modules of the PI Training to the local context and language.

GYIN Gambia will organise Training of Trainers (ToT) and deliver 10 training sessions (3 sessions per week of 3 hours each, led by the lead trainer) to 3 groups of 10 participants each.

Furthermore, coordinate monitoring and evaluation activities of the PI training- asking for feedback, administering questionnaires among other M&E tools that will be use.

Doorways gGmbH is a company for the support of development cooperation as well as the support of education, national and vocational training, including student aid and for the support of science and research. The company realizes its statutory purposes in particular by implementing training and other education projects of the Global South. This includes the coordination and organization of events for further education, such as workshops, trainings, lectures or informal meetings.

GYIN Gambia Chapter is a non-profit and non-political business support organization specialized in rural development, supporting market linkages and access to markets. GYIN Gambia under its programs has supported businesses with a focus on developing the export capabilities of small and medium-sized businesses in developing and transition them.  The network projects and programs contribute to the global efforts to achieve United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development and the Aid for Trade agenda by empowering returnee migrants, women and youths with self-reliant skills, so they can initiate to improve their market linkages.
