Commuters plying the Passamas-Basse-Trans-Gambia road, are positive that the construction of the aforementioned road network would increase economic boom in the areas. They made this disclosure yesterday in an interview with this medium.
In the views of Lamin Kanteh, a young entrepreneur, the construction of the road would guarantee smooth transportation of their business commodities.
Aja Jongsaba Fatty, a dealer in vegetables said that the construction of the said road has put into history the inordinate delay they experience in delivering their produce to the market. This scenario, she stated, has for long affected them in their business endeavours.
Even though fares are still pegged at the same costs, Fatty, however, acknowledged that their produce do reach the market on time. While hailing the regime for the road infrastructural development, she also urged the government to reduce fares for them.
Malang Jangba urged the drivers to drive carefully and adhere to traffic rules, so as to avert road accidents in the area.
“This costs passengers their lives and properties”, he lamented to this medium.
Mr. Musa Camara echoed similar sentiments, and went on to urge the National Road Authority to ensure regular maintenance of the road to ensure sustainability and durability.
As the construction of Passamas-Basse road is nearing completion, resident are calling on the government to still help them in constructing the Sare Teneng- Sare Ngai and Borro Kanda Kasseh-Baja Kunda roads, noting that these are strategic roads in the area that further strengthen economic growth.
