The Operations Manager for Comfort Quality Service Company Limited, Mr. Ousman Njai, has on Thursday, 23 January 2020 rebutted allegations relating to the awarding of the aluminum vehicles and motorcycles number plates contract to their company.

It could be refreshed that in 2018, the government of President Adama Barrow, through the Minister of Interior, awarded Comfort Quality Service Company Ltd the contract to produce aluminum vehicles and motorcycle number plates.

The Operations boss disclosed that their aluminum number plates are from the highest quality suppliers called International Organization for standard (IOS 7591) and the German Institute of Standard (GIN 74069).

“Copies of our certificates were tendered to our partners The Gambia Police Force (GPF) and the Ministry of Interior, respectively,” he told members of the press during a news briefing held at its Secretariat in Kanifing Industrial Estate.

Njai claimed their number plates are durable and are with 75% visibility in the dark. They also come with a secure future which the Gambian traffic police are aware of, he explained.

The press briefing was meant to acquaint the general public with the company’s products and services, and also inform people about the awarding of the number plates contract.

After securing the contract, the company was tasked to produce sixty thousand (60,000) aluminum number plates with quick responding biometric codes containing details of commuters as a means to combat criminals by tracing stolen vehicles.

Operations Manager Njai stood his grounds by rebuffing the allegations surrounding the awarding of the contract to their company. He told the press that, Comfort Company has built a sophisticated electronic vehicle management system that is in line with number plates production. He informed that the number plates captured essential bank details required to initiate transactions between vehicle owners and comfort quality services.

The number plates captured essential vehicle details as well as vehicle owners’ and transacting agent’s details. It also captures multi-layer data input, indicated Njai.

He further indicated to the media that the Company has provided the Gambia Police Force (GPF) with one hundred (100) biometric scanners which would help to ease traffic officers’ execution of their functions at checkpoints.

“Our Quick Response (QR) service will ensure that every vehicle and motorcycle in the Gambia have QR sticker on their widescreen, thus will enable traffic officers with information about vehicle owners,” the Manager added.

Njai revealed that the quick response (scanners and stickers) would reveal information about the vehicles or motorcycle owners to the traffic officers.

He stated that the scanners would enable effective traffic checking in order to address vehicles and motorcycles theft.

Njai, however, challenged motorists to purchase the aluminum number plates, stating it would ensure the security of their mobility.
