Mamadou Edrisa Njie, publisher and managing editor of Mansa Banko Online, has for the second time been named by Tropics Magazine as one of Africa’s most influential leaders shaping the future of the continent.

The award-winning magazine named Mr Njie among its ‘Top 700 annual power list 2022’, which put him on the magazine’s list of influential Africans, dubbed #AfricanDoers.  The list includes presidents, ambassadors, musicians, footballers in Africa or of African descent.

This development comes barely one year after Mr Njie was first honoured among ‘500 Most Influential Africans’ in 2021 by Tropics, as the magazine celebrates its 11th anniversary.

Tropics Magazine is an award-winning Business and Lifestyle monthly publication that caters to a global readership based in Africa, Europe, America, and Southeast Asia, including Australia.  The South Africa-based magazine recognises the contributions of Africa’s most influential leaders who shape Africa’s image.

In a statement on its website, Tropics said the new annual ranking puts on the spotlight outstanding figures of Afro-optimism, each in distinct and complementary fields.

Reacting to this recent achievement, Mr Njie said he saw the honour as a challenge to continue serving.

“I am very much glad with the honour,” he said.  “But to be honoured twice in a row, for me, is a reminder to continue serving humanity and achieving results.”

Elated Mr Njie said the recognition by Tropics Magazine is a motivation for him and his team at Mansa Banko Online, a pro-agriculture online newspaper, to continue reporting on the lives of rural people.

Every month, the Tropics media brand releases 5 editions per world region which are proudly published by the Tropics Media Group, a division of the Tropics Ventures Group.

#AfricanDoer

Njie, an inspirational youth leader, gained the Magazine’s recognition alongside Mr Aliko Dangote, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group who is dubbed the wealthiest person in Africa; popular Senegalese musician, Baaba Maal; Senegalese-American music star, Akon, and other renowned personalities in Africa or of African descent.  They are the Tropics Magazine #AfricanDOers 2022.

Hailed from the small West African nation of The Gambia, the Mansa Banko Online publisher is a journalist, youth coach and mentor who works extensively on women and community development initiatives.

He waded through all odds as a young pen-pusher in the Gambian media to become the founder of the Global Youth Innovation Network Gambia Chapter (GYIN Gambia).  The network works with young people across The Gambia in the areas of training, coaching, and mentoring on different themes including entrepreneurship, leadership and empowerment, and advocacy.  Today, it has a membership of more than 2,000 including individual members and Community-Based Organizations.

With his ardent desire to see enhanced agricultural and entrepreneurship development in The Gambia, Mr Njie also founded Mansa Banko Online newspaper as a medium to highlight and promote agricultural activities and developments in the rural areas.
