An international award winner Mr. Basiru Jaye, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the BJ Academy, a group of diverse talented orators who are here to reinvent moral values in society and equally nurture children and youths in their domains of life.
He explained that they usually mentor, fight for the oppressed and also motivates and inspire all generations through the production of motivational videos that usually touch the hearts of many people around world.
The former Gambia Senior Secondary School (GSSS) student explained that, he actually won lots of academic awards such as the Francis DeGaulle Njie Foundation award as the ‘Best Mathematics student in 2016’ as well as ‘Best Chemistry Student’. The aims and objectives of his academy, he outlined, are to reinvent good moral values in society, motivate and inspire all generations, nurture children and youths in their prospective careers and fight for the oppressed.
The international award winner claimed part of his success stories is being one of the most influential groups in Africa, being able to gain the trust of people which culminated in many people and parents lobbying for their children to join BJ Academy.
However, according to Jaye, lack of sponsorship and partners for aid are great challenges for his Academy and the beneficiaries of the institution.
Dilating on his accolades, CEO Jaye said the award was given by the Young Diplomats of Africa, contested by 25 countries, adding that he had been representing the Gambia and Africa in highly dignified platforms like the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and World Scout Movement.
He added: โI usually come back home with lots of Laurels. I equally represent the sport fraternity as currently, I am in the National Team of the Gambia Cricket.โ
Besides, for the young African diplomat, education is the only priority now as his goal is to have a PhD in Public Policy and Management. Regarding the BJ Academy, he disclosed there are lots of things in the pipeline; and promised โthe public is going to see differencesโ.
Jaye opined that the youth of the Gambia should wake up from their slumber and know that they are a catalyst of development, believing that this could only be attained when they are ready to constantly upgrade themselves in all forms.
The BJ Academy boss continued: โBe it the photographer, the tailor, the educationists or even the youth entrepreneurs, all of them should evolve and yearn for more knowledge. Let’s encourage the youth of the Gambia to venture into politics because if everyone stays away, then we will never have a young leader. Let them fight for the interest of this nation and fight for what is right.โ
He admonished the youth that, they should refuse to listen to those people who are telling them that they are the future, reasoning the “future and present start now”. He further enjoined them to be truthfully anchored over the things they are doing, be it advocacy or activism as he maintained that all are gifted and talented in their own ways; so they should search for what belongs to them.
The one-time student of the Islamic University of Technology completed his Computer Science and Engineering studies in Bangladesh, and he was able to complete numerous professional courses like COMPTIA+ and CISCO NETWORKING at Infosoft Valley Institute in Bangladesh. Jaye is currently a third-year student at the University of The Gambia (UTG)- Department of Computer Science.
