Al–Huda Foundation has on Friday distributed various food package to 200 families at Abuko in a bid to respond to the coronavirus pandemic and complement the efforts of the government.
The food items for each beneficiary included 10 kilos of rice, 10 kilos of wheat, 6 kilos of sugar, 5 liters of oil, 8 packets of spaghetti and a packet of tea, meant to support the underemployed families who are required to stay at home and adhere to the preventive measures of Covid-19.
The Supervisor and Membership Co-ordinator of Al-Huda Foundation, Mr. Abdoulie Jagne, explained the need for the gesture: “We have been supporting families with food items, but this is the first time for Al–Huda to give out food packages to 200 families.
“Last Ramadan, the executive members contributed {food items}and we were able to help 10 families only. When we visited some of these people, we felt their conditions to the extent of being crying. Thank God, we have people who gave us their money to cater food items for 200 families this year.’’
A beneficiary, Ms. Penda Jallow, was elated to receive the food package, saying: “This food is a big thing to me. I am saying thank you as someone who called you and gave you food; you have nothing to tell that person except being grateful.’’
Mr. Kebba Bah also acknowledged the support and encouraged others to emulate Al-Huda Foundation.
“As a human being when Allah blesses you with something, try to share it with those you are better than, for the sake of Allah. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in a Hadith that any Muslim who helps his or her fellow Muslim being in a hardship or tribulation he will stand for you, ’’ Bah preached.
Al- Huda Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2017, to amongst other things, teach people Islam, help the needy, provide Iftar during Ramadan and free veils for women and girls.
