Gambia Gov’t receives support from UAE AID

The Government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Health received support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) AID as part its efforts in the COVID-19 Global Response.

The support included the provision of assorted Personel Protective Equipment such as 250,000 gloves, 20,000 masks, 16,000 shoe covers, 6,000 sanitisers and 3,600 wipes.

The Ministry of Health would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Director General of State Intelligence Services for facilitating the arrival of these important protective gears which will greatly contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in the country. The purpose of the UAE AID is to support The Gambia to fight COVID-19 through the protection of frontline workers.

In a separate engagement additional donation of protective gears from Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundations was received on the same day at the Banjul International Airport.

The items were received by the Director of Health Promotion and Education, Mr Modou Njai on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Health Hon. Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh. In receiving the items the Director of Health Promotion and Education said that the arrival of the items will go a long way in strengthening the COVID-19 resoonse efforts and he assured the donors that the items will be used for it’s intended purpose.

The Director of Health Promotion and Education extended gratitude to the people and government of the UAE and Jack Ma Foundation for the support.
