The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Yakuba Drammeh on Wednesday 29 April 2020 continued his courtesy call on Sister Security Services Chiefs with visits to the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) and Gambia Prison Services (GPS). The visits, which are aimed at extending a hand of friendship and cooperation to his colleagues, come on the heels of his appointment to the position of Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces on 5 March 2020.

In receiving the Chief of Defence Staff and delegation at the GFRS Headquarters in Banjul, the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Sang Colley Ndow congratulated Major General Drammeh for his appointment to the position of Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces.

The Chief Fire Officer thanked the CDS and GAF for the collaboration, support and cordial relations maintained with his institution over the period under review characterizing the Armed Forces as one of their key partners. He assured the CDS of his cooperation and support during his tenure. He concluded by commending the leadership of GAF for the role they played in diffusing the tensions in the country over the last three years.

Receiving the CDS and delegation at the GPS Headquarters at Mile 2, the Director General of the Prisons Services, Mr. Ansumana Manneh also congratulated the CDS while thanking him for the invitation to attend the Pulling Out ceremony and his assumption of command of the Gambia Armed Forces in March.

He stated that the Gambia Prisons Services and the GAF have had very long and cordial relations in the past and assured General Drammeh of his support and collaboration at all times.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Yakuba Drammeh for his part thanked the Chief Fire Officer and Director General of Gambia Prisons Services and their officers for the warm and touching welcome which he described as a sign of cordial relations with the two institutions.

He stated that the aim of his visit was to extend a hand of camaraderie and esprit de corps to his colleague Security Services Chiefs and also to thank them for their support and collaboration over the years. He told the two Chiefs that they could always count on the Gambia Armed Forces under his command while expressing his readiness to work with them for the mutual benefit of the Gambian people.
