On his way to Sibanor as part of the ongoing Meet the People tour, President Barrow made a brief stop at the construction site of a new modern technical and vocational centre in Somita, Foni Berefet. Accompanied by the Minister of Education, Hon. Claudiana Cole, the president was taken on a conducted tour by the lead contractor of the project.

The project, which is supported by the BADEA-OFID project, will ease access and decentralise technical and vocational training. Upon completion, the facility will be equipped with modern offices, a multipurpose hall, computer and science labs, toilet blocks, high-security perimeter fencing, and a water supply infrastructure.

The project is part of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education’s programmes of promoting and formalising Technical and Vocational Training Education (TVET) among youths. Two similar TVET centres are being constructed in Gunjur and Sanyang in Kombo South.
