Farmers in the rural areas have expressed hope of better harvest in this year’s harvest season.
It could be recalled that the onset of 2019 rainy season has suffered dry spells. This, according to farmers, have affected their crops, but they are hopeful of a better harvest. They made this closure recently during an interview with Mansa Banko Online.
Landing Sarr of Berending is among the optimists of this year’s season, as he vouched that he’s impressed with the harvest of his maize farm.
“I am expecting a better harvest with my groundnut farm which I intend to harvest next week”, he disclosed.
Farmer Sarr thanked the current government for providing them with fertilizer at the start of this year’s rainy season. But he’s quick to point out that, that fertiliser was not adequate in terms their demands.
He, therefore, had this for the Barrow dispensation, “I implore on the regime to provide us with the needed fertilizer to maximize our production”.
Two farmers from Wuli East, namely Tida Sanuwo and Ali Sowe acknowledged registering better harvest in their groundnuts farms, despite the dry spells.
Sowe went on to add that he’s harvesting his 3 hectares maize farm, and he told this medium that the outcome could sustain his family for 5 months in terms of feeding.
Yoro Fatty of Limbanbulu in Wuli West, also urged the government to ensure that funds are available for the purchase of their groundnuts.
“This helps us fend for our families in terms of feeding, clothing, health and school fees for our children”, he said.
