: The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter has officially signed a contract with WIDU Africa to deliver tailored coaching and business growth support services. Under this partnership, GYIN Gambia will provide coaching to 20 entrepreneurs between April 2026 and March 2027.

WIDU Africa—an initiative implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with co-financing from the European Union—focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation across Africa. Through this collaboration, GYIN Gambia will play a pivotal role in equipping Gambian entrepreneurs with the skills, strategies, and mentorship needed to thrive in today’s competitive business landscape.

The WIDU Africa project seeks to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in The Gambia by combining diaspora-backed investments with structured business coaching. MSMEs are the backbone of the Gambian economy, yet many face challenges in accessing finance, management skills, and market linkages. WIDU Africa addresses these gaps through matching grants, entrepreneurial coaching, and digital monitoring.

GYIN Gambia will deliver coaching services to 20 entrepreneurs across the country, helping them strengthen their ventures and unlock new opportunities. The program will focus on improving business performance, fostering sustainable growth, and contributing to job creation.

Focus on Women, Youth, and Sustainability

The program will prioritize women and youth inclusion, with at least 50 percent of participants expected to be women. It will also emphasize sustainability by promoting climate-smart practices and tracking measurable results such as job creation, income growth, and skills development.

Timeline and Impact

  • July 2026: Inception phase, including Training of Coaches (ToC)
  • 2026–2027: Coaching delivery and ongoing advisory services
  • March 2027: Final reporting and handover of referral pathways

Experience and Impact

GYIN Gambia has extensive experience in youth entrepreneurship, women’s economic empowerment, climate-smart agriculture, and ecosystem strengthening. The organization has previously partnered with GIZ, IOM, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful business development programs.

This initiative under WIDU Africa is expected to deliver approximately 60 coaching visits, support entrepreneurs through the full WIDU cycle, and contribute to sustainable job creation and income growth in The Gambia.
