The Department of Water Resources under the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources has released the national weather forecast for Tuesday, 16th June 2026, highlighting a mix of slight showers, thunderstorms, and rising heat across the country.

Tonight, the eastern sector may experience slight rain and thunderstorms late into the night, though chances remain low. By tomorrow morning, coastal areas could see light showers before conditions turn warm and dry throughout the day.

Winds are expected to shift between westerly and southwesterly directions, with speeds ranging from 6 to 26 km/h. Temperatures will drop to a cool 21°C in the North Bank Region, while the Lower River Region braces for highs of 37°C.

Sunrise will occur at 6:30 AM in the Upper River Region and 6:40 AM in Greater Banjul, with sunsets at 7:25 PM and 7:35 PM respectively.

Extreme Temperatures for Wednesday, 17th June 2026

  • Banjul: 25°C – 33°C
  • Kanifing: 25°C – 34°C
  • West Coast: 25°C – 35°C
  • North Bank: 21°C – 35°C
  • Lower River: 26°C – 37°C
  • Central River: 25°C – 36°C
  • Upper River: 26°C – 36°C

Looking ahead, Thursday 18th June will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with warm and humid conditions across the country. By Friday 19th June, inland regions may see slight rainfall during the day, offering brief relief from the heat.

This week’s forecast reflects the seasonal rhythm of June in The Gambia — a blend of warmth, humidity, and occasional showers that remind communities to stay prepared for both sunshine and rain.
