President Adama Barrow today received a high delegation of Senegalese health professionals dispatched to Banjul by President Macky Sall of Senegal.
Led by the Senegalese Director of Health Emergency Operations, Dr Abdoulaye Busso, the delegation is in the country to share experiences with Gambian counterparts as well as collaborate in the effective response to COVID19.
In his statement, President Barrow said health professionals taking the lead in providing expert advice will enable them as politicians to make informed policy decisions on COVID-19 response mechanisms.
“COVID-19 has overwhelmed us as a population; infection numbers are surging beyond our expectations and within a short period of time. Hence I turned to my brother, President Macky Sall, to tap from Senegal’s experience in managing the pandemic,” he stated.
Speaking to the media after an audience with the President, Dr Busso described The Gambia’s laboratories as very good, adding that the visit will enable them to collaborate more on case management, large scale testing and access to emergency drugs, amongst others.
