The European Union Ambassador to The Gambia, H.E. Immaculada Roca i Cortรฉs, visited the International Trade Fair Gambia organized by the The Gambia Chamber of Commerce & Industry – GCCI.
Accompanied by UNDP The Gambia Resident Representative Mandisa Mashologu, the Ambassador guided by Yusupha Keita, ITC Gambia Country Representative, toured stalls supported by the EU Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) on Tourism and Creative Industries.
The trade fair, which commenced on April 25th, highlights the EUโs commitment to sustainable economic growth. Through the EU YEP โ Tourism and Creative Industries, the EU is supporting 48 small businesses and 3 sector associations under the Andandorr Programme, boosting market access and competitiveness.
Reflecting on the visit, H.E. Ambassador Immaculada Roca i Cortรฉs stated: “Fostering economic opportunities and opening doors to sustainable markets for small businesses is at the core of our partnership with The Gambia. Seeing the innovation of these entrepreneurs reinforces the European Union’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment. By equipping local businesses through the Andandorr Programme, we jointly invest in a thriving Gambian economy.”
The EU ambassador also participated to the Cultural night event at the GCCI International Trade Fair along with the Honourable Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Mr Abdoulie Jobe. The event showcased remarkable cultural performances by young talented artists supported by the EU YEP Tourism and Creative industries.
