Myk Flambarz Jayda commonly known as the ‘King of Gambian Hip Hop’ on Thursday, 16th January, 2020 met with the Secretary General and Leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress, Mr. Mama Kandeh.

The two had an hour’s indoor meeting centering on moving the Gambian music scene forward.

Myk Jayda is said to have staged more than ten shows so far, in his musical career, with the recent ones held at Penchami Hall [at Kairaba Beach Hotel], and the famous Latrikunda Sabiji musical Festival.

The former Jimara parliamentarian-turned-opposition leader expressed his love and respect for music, as it’s contributing a lot towards the development of other countries in the world, and Kandeh believes the same thing could be transcended to The Gambia.

The GDC leader pointed out that his party has “great plans” to see to it that the country’s music scene reaches the apex of world platforms.

Kandeh reminded that as an opposition, the GDC “is here to contribute its quota” towards the development of the Gambians and particularly the youths. He reassured the Gambian music industry of his support, whenever he could.

Kandeh, whose party’s support to Gambian communities is already visible, has encouraged the young man to keep up his good work within the community, as he (Myk Jayda) has been contributing a lot in other forms to keep the youths together.
